Rujith Gunawardena

Rujith Gunawardena is a senior attending Clear Brook High School. He has a keen interest in business and finance, and hopes to pursue a major in these fields once he enters college. He competed at the state level of the business and entrepreneurship organization, DECA, in both his sophomore and junior years. Aside from his career aspirations, Rujith has strong passions for both singing and tennis. He is a skilled tennis player who played on the Clear Brook Varsity Tennis team for three years. He also sang in the Houston Grand Opera’s Children’s Chorus and the Clear Brook Men’s and Mixed Choir.

Rujith has been heavily involved in volunteerism through his life. He was the Event Coordinator for the Youth Sri Lankan American Association of Houston (2015-2016) and participated in a number of fundraisers. He also volunteered at the E.L. Civics Adult Education Program as a teacher assistant. Utilizing his passion for singing, Rujith performed in the “Hope for the Nepalese” soundtrack to help raise funds for the 2015 earthquake survivors in Nepal.

Rujith aspires to pursue his studies in the finance field, and to gain experience in the field, he will take initiative in “Revive to Survive” by working and developing on his advertising skills as this year’s Public Relations Project Director of Revive to Survive. He is a highly motivated student of many talents and interests, and he will continue to keep volunteerism a centerpiece in his life.
