Revive to Survive Representative in Sri Lanka

Dr. Samadhi Rajapakse (MD, Phd)

Dr. Samadhi Rajapaksa is the head of counseling unit of the National Cancer Institute, Sri Lanka. He is also the founder of Cancer Care Association (non-governmental volunteer charity organization registered in Sri Lanka) and is actively involved in providing cancer patients with needed medications and other physical and psychological needs. Other than Medicine he has post graduate qualifications in Counseling, Ayurveda Medicine and Palliative Care. He is one of the few doctors who have completed a Phd in Buddhist Philosophy.

As a devoted Buddhist he is well known for his meritorious activities. He considers caring for patients is caring for Lord Buddha himself. There is no way of explaining his irreproachable character in this short biography. Being a man with many talents, he expressed his talents in many ways which includes Kandyan dancing, Arts, Poetry, and Philosophy.

Dr. Rajapaksa pioneered the provision of hospice care and home based palliative care in Sri Lanka. Under his leadership CCA is maintaining a 40 bed hospice in Kurundankulama Anuradhapura. In addition, he and a team of dedicated volunteers provide home based hospice care to needy patients in Galle district with the blessings of Dr.Upul Ekanayake Consultant Clinical Oncologist of TH-Karapitiya. He had initiated many activities to up lift infrastructure facilities of National Cancer Institute Maharagama and Oncology units of TH-Anuradhapura and Karapitiya.

As a representative of Revive to Survive, he will help identify Pediatric patients who are in need of medications and help in the disbursement.
